FebFitnessFailure...

Need I say more?

March goal: fitness.  Lacks the alliteration, but it will just have to do.

FebFitness

I've decided to fully utilize the alliteration of this month's goal and hereby assign it the title,

FebFitness

Yoga: I was able to attend yoga class Tue and Thurs this week, and also did 45 minutes of yoga on my own today for the first time!  Up until now, I never really felt comfortable doing yoga on my own time, without the guidance of an instructor leading my class through the various poses and reminding us of all the small details to pay attention to.  Drop your hip, face your torso this direction, tuck your chin, let your head hang, don't push yourself to the point of shaking, pull your belly button to your spine.  Thanks to a long stretch of very little travel and a whole lot more office time than normal, I've actually been in town long enough to finally attend enough consecutive classes to feel as if I'm getting the hang of it!  Today's independent yoga session was awesome!

Biking: The weather has been amazing!  I went for a couple of 3-5 mile ridesthis week and will probably be embarking on a longer ride some time this weekend.  The trails are great and the recently added fresh snow contributes nicely to the exercise component of biking.  In order to get through that thick snow, you have to sit back in the seat as far as possible in order to shift enough weight over the back tire, giving it enough traction to move forward as you kick away rapidly in the lowest gear.... now that's an ab workout!

Roller Derby: Yep, that's right, roller derby!  The Bethel league, still unnamed, has been in the making since October, but is finally taking off.  We've had several organizational meetings among the 20-30 interested Bethel ladies.  There have now been 2 practices.  And to be honest, it kicked my butt way harder than biking or yoga.  I was sore for days!  Who would have thought that skating in circles and then doing balance and core circuit exercises would have been so tough! I'm excited to see what will become of this league once we all stop falling down so much....
